How to Become a Genius
(This is a Sample Blog
Post)
One of the
biggest
secrets of top
entrepreneurs that I have discovered lies in the way they go
about learning. Being able to learn quicker and retain more
information than your competitor is a huge advantage. So just
what do they do different then that average person?
#1 They are Dedicated to
Learning
This is not really a secret but I
feel its necessary to understand. Most of them read 1 - 2 books
per week, some read 3-5 books per week. The Biggest
Mansions often have the biggest libraries.
Here is something
scary
1/3 of high school graduates
never read another book for the rest of their lives.
42 percent of college graduates
never read another book after college.
80 percent of U.S. families did
not buy or read a book last year.
70 percent of U.S. adults have
not been in a bookstore in the last five years.
57 percent of new books are not
read to completion.

Below is quote one of my
mentors told me about learning when I graduated
college.
“Every morning in Africa, a
gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or
it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It
knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will
starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a lion or gazelle -
when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.”
#2 They purchase
knowledge
They invest in themselves and
there education constantly. Napoleon Hill once said it pays to
know how to purchase specialized knowledge. This is something
that all A-Players know how to do
"Successful men, in all
callings, never stop acquiring specialized knowledge related to
their major purpose, business, or profession. Those who are not
successful usually make the mistake of believing that the
knowledge acquiring period ends when on finishes school. The
Truth is that schooling does but little more than to put one in
the way of learning how to acquire practical
knowledge."
-Napoleon Hill, Think and Grown
Rich, Copyright 1937
The Proof: Eben Pagan, Dan
Kennedy, Frank Kern all do not have college degrees yet they
have never stopped learning and as a result are very
successful.
#3 They Make use of
Idol time
The Average american spends
240 hrs a year commuting to his job. 240 hrs per year is
more than the typical class room time of a college
student. This Idol time is wasted by listenting to the
music or even worse listening to negative news. A-player
entreprenuers do not waste this time.
They Turn their car into a
university on wheels. They carry their ipod around them
which is loaded with audio programs and seminars. That 15
minute wait at the doctors is spent learning instead of reading
a magazine. I have even heard of A-level entreprenuers
now carrying around kindle whereever they go so they can read
during idol time. Idol time spent running or at the
gym could also be converted into learning time.
#4 Increased Input
Speed
This is a Big secret used by
almost every A-level entrepreneur. However it is never
given much thought or even shared by those who use. I now
can watch a 9 hour seminar in 3 hours. I have saved
hours because of this simple secret. Enter Speed
Watching/Speed Listening
I first got Idea of this when
I saw a twitter converstion between Frank Kern and someone
else. They were discussing how they turn the playback
speed up to 2x when listening to audio programs. That
means that a 4 hour audio book could be listened to in 2
hours. I later heard Rich Schefren discuss how he
personally listens at 4x. A 4 hour seminar in only 1
hour! When you only have 24 hours in a day saving 3 hours
is huge.
How to Speed Listen/Speed
Watch
What You Need: GOM Players or
Quicktime or Windows Media Player (any player that has playback
control, I personally use the GOM Player for Videos and the
Windows Media Player for Audio)
Step 1: Test to see at what
speed you can comprehend. Most people can listen at
2-2.5x naturally and if you can do that you will already cut
your learning time in half!
Step 2: Overspeed
Training. Listen to a speed for 7-10 minutes that
you have difficulty understanding. Example if can
naturally listen to audio at 2.5x then in order to increase
your listening capabilites to 3x. You would listen at
3.5x for 7-10 minutes, try to understand as much as you
can. Then go back to 3x. Essentially you are
speeding up your brain and allowing it to process
quicker. If you do this for a couple of weeks you should
be able to get up to at least 3.5x.
Speed
Reading
This is also very
important. I have almost tripled my reading speed.
I originally tested my self at 170 wpm and now I read at 500
wpm with the same comprehension.
Heres what I recommend
EyeQ. This is a program that strenghts your eye muscles
with exercises that take 7 minutes a day. This
alone doubled my reading speed. I would also
recommend 10 day to faster reading. These are the two
programs that have really help me.
#5 Downloading
Information
I always dreamed that their
would be a way to just click a button and download information
into your brain. Kind of like Keanu reeves in the Matrix.
"I know Kung Fu". Well this is exactly what A-Level
Entrepreneurs do.
A study shows that new
information or ideas heard only once is at least 50% forgotten
in 48 hours and 90% lost in 16 days without
reinforcement. High Level Entrepreneurs know this big
secret. So how do they learn?
They learn by
Spaced Repetition
Learning (Over
learning)
You have used spaced
repetition yourself and probably not noticed. Have you
ever learned the lyrics of a song without trying. That is
spaced repetition learning, it is how we humans naturally
learn. The best part is you dont even have to try to
learn the material if you hear it enough times you will
essentially download the information into your
head. Even better you dont have to do this during
focused blocks of time such as reading or writing. You
can listen when you are driving, workingout at the gym, or even
sleeping. Idol time, you can try not to learn it just
like the lyrics of those annyoing songs that you are ashamed to
know the lyrics too.
How to do it
1. Listen to and audio program
7 times in 30 days during Idol time.
